To secure a positive skills assessment as a Registered Nurse / Nurse Practitioner, which is required for the points-based visas, you must have either:
- A relevant degree completed in the UK, Ireland, USA, Canada or Hong Kong + a minimum of 3 months’ paid employment within the last 5 years + Proficient level of an Academic English test;
OR
- Current AHPRA registration.
You must also provide evidence of Nursing registration for any work experience that you are asking the skill assessing authority to assess.
The cost of the skills assessment for Registered Nurses is $595 AUD (or $395 AUD modified assessment).

Process to work as a Nurse in Australia
To be eligible to work as a Nurse in Australia you must get registration from AHPRA
