The opportunity

These projects are often of national significance and range from major infrastructure, agricultural, 3 waters, to commercial, industrial and land development projects with involvement from feasibility, through construction and operation. This is a genuine opportunity for a senior professional to step up into a leadership position, or an existing leader to make their mark. This is a great opportunity where you can fully utilise your technical capability, job management and people skills. You will be responsible for leading contaminated land investigation projects, regionally as well as nationally. Work would primarily involve being client facing and contributing to business development, leading desk study assessments, site investigations, risk assessments and reporting as well as project management and supervising junior team members. The scope of responsibilities and breadth of the role will be shaped by the candidate. In addition to the contaminated land focus, this is a great opportunity to develop your skills in a diverse range of environmental assessment, site investigations, environmental / planning approvals and environmental management.

About you 

This is an opportunity to become a key member of our environmental business within a well-established and highly respected consultancy.

Our team has a significant workload and we are looking for a Senior Scientist to support the national team. Whilst we would prefer Auckland based location is flexible as we have offices throughout New Zealand.

We are looking for 6+ years experience with exceptional levels of written and oral communication, preferably with consultancy experience.

You’ll need a thorough understanding of consenting under the Resource Management Act and NES Soil, ideally from a consulting company. This position requires excellent technical skills in a broad range of environmental science related disciplines, but with a main focus on soil and water management, particularly contaminated land. You’ll need to be able to scope and manage environmental field work and data analysis and have experience and ability to manage contractors for contaminated site investigations.
