Skilled Visas overview
Here is a general overview of the Skilled visa options. These visas are points-based visas, where you must have an occupation on the Skilled Occupation List, have the right qualifications and work experience to achieve a positive skills assessment and generate a minimum of 65 points.
Permanent Skilled Independent Subclass 189
• Occupation must be on the MLTSSL
• Permanent residency visa
• Travel in/out of Australia as you wish
• Entitled to Medicare
Permanent State Nominated Subclass 190
• Occupation can be on the MLTSSL or STSOL
• Permanent residency visa
• Travel in/out of Australia as you wish
• Entitled to Medicare
Provisional Regional State Nominated Subclass 491
• Occupation can be on the MLTSSL or STSOL
• Occupation may be on the ROL (but not always applicable)
• Provisional Regional visa
• Obligated to live/work in your nominating state for 3 years
• Stay in Australia for 5 years from the date of visa grant
• Live, study and work in a regional area
• Travel in/out of Australia during visa validity
• Pathways to permanent residency, if eligible
Regional Provisional Family Sponsored Subclass 491
• Occupation must be on the MLTSSL
• Must be sponsored by an eligible relative
• Provisional Regional visa
• Stay in Australia for 5 years from the date of visa grant
• Live, study and work in a regional area
• Travel in/out of Australia during visa validity
• Pathways to permanent residency, if eligible
