Sustainability Leader – Buildings

We have an opportunity for an experienced and passionate sustainability leader to join our Buildings Business. We are looking for an experienced practitioner to provide broad leadership to our clients and projects in New Zealand and Australia, to work with our team in Asia, to raise awareness and engagement in the design and construction industry, to inform and influence technical solutions, and drive better decision making processes on our Building projects. You’ll have a record of technical excellence in this area, and this will be an opportunity to apply your knowledge to all building design projects and show the value of placing sustainability considerations at the heart of our decision making. You will provide strategic leadership to our exceptional team of thought leaders and technical experts located in multiple offices. You’ll be a strategic thinker with the ability to create a vision with a strong sense of purpose to deliver and turn opportunities into outcomes. You’ll need to be skilled in building relationships and have the ability to bring people together to achieve a common goal and bring the best out of our talented people. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are required for this role.
You’ll need to understand the technical aspects of sustainable building design and be skilled in assessing and communicating the value of sustainability initiatives to the wider project team and clients. You will have the experience to understand and prioritise key client drivers and contextualise design decisions in line with the project’s sustainable development goals. To do this, you’ll have a understanding of materiality assessments, can demonstrate detailed understanding of building services systems, and be able to develop (or adapt existing) design frameworks to drive better project outcomes.
You’ll be skilled in risk and opportunity management and use this approach to understand where value can be added to a project across environmental, social and financial systems. You’ll have a natural drive to find solutions that have long term benefits for clients and be able to influence our project teams to make this part of everything we do.
