Plumbing Jobs in Canberra, Australia with Foster Hydronic Heating

Foster Hydronic Heating is one of many employers on the DUC Employment Hub.

Andy from Foster Hydronic Heating tells us more about the company which is based in Canberra, and the jobs they have available in ACT.

Tell us a little about Foster Hydronic Heating and what the company has to offer a future employee?

Australian owned and operated since 1928, Foster Hydronic Heating is Australia’s largest hydronic heating company. We’ve helped numerous plumbers make the move Down Under, and are ready to provide the training and support necessary to help you settle in and hit the ground running. As a company, we’re focused on building a sustainable future, making efforts to help switch Australia from gas to electric, whilst also prioritizing and investing in our people.

What is a typical day for an employee, duties, hours or work etc?

Your working day will generally be from 7:30am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, and there is always overtime, work available on Saturdays and the opportunity to work away from home, but this is never pressured. Working with new and emerging heating technologies, you’ll have the opportunity to practice problem solving and creativity while installing radiators, in-floor heating, gas boilers, and heat pumps.

What do you look for in a candidate when hiring?

Current plumbing qualifications are a must, with quality workmanship and the ability and interest to learn. Someone familiar with Australian culture, or ready and eager for a change of scenery would be an advantage.

As a Brit yourself, what do you enjoy most about working and living in Australia compared to England?

The fresh air, fresh food, great friendly culture, and always being made to feel welcome. Australia is also home to some of the nicest beaches, lovely weather, and the most picturesque landscapes in the world, you won’t be disappointed.

What advice would you give to people deciding whether to make the move to Australia?

Save up as much as you can, ask questions and do your research, and if you can, visit before you decide to make the jump. As amazing as Australia is, consider why you’re thinking of emigrating in the first place. We want you to be happy as much as we want you to become part of the team.

What do you love about Canberra and think it has to offer?

The locals won’t hesitate to tell you; Canberra offers big city amenities with small town characteristics. Safe, clean, low traffic, world-class restaurants, entertainment, both snowfields and sunny beaches 2- hours in opposite directions, Canberra is the full package.
