Process for Glass and Glazing AQF III
You are required to prove you are a Glazier and have the necessary skills to work as a Glazier in Australia. The cost of the Glass and Glazing AQF III is $2,950.
1. Gathering your evidence for the Glass and Glazing AQF III
To obtain the Glass and Glazing AQF III, you will need to prove a minimum of 6 years of work experience as a Glazier.
There will be a list of mandatory documentation that you must provide and a list of useful documentation that you could include in your application. You will also need to supply contact details of work referees who can confirm your skills in the industry.
You will also need to prove that you have worked as a Glazier for a minimum of 12 months out of the last 36 months. Work experience will need to be proved via pay slips, invoices, bank statements, statements of service and more. You also need to make sure you supply photo/video evidence of you completing Glazier duties and tasks.

2. Technical Interview for the Glass and Glazing AQF III
Your assessor will review the information and evidence you have provided and begin to match your skills to the units/subjects in the qualification and organise a technical interview. You will be required to answer industry related questions to identify your current skills as a Glazier. The Technical interviews are held at The Down Under Centre’s London office, 48 Haven Green, Ealing W5 2NX.
Once you have successfully completed, you will obtain your Certificate III in Glass and Glazing and can then move on to complete the TRA Glazier skills assessment Australia.

The Down Under Centre can also work with you to submit your Glazier skills assessment application to Trades Recognition Australia (TRA) after you obtain your Certificate III in Glass and Glazing, where we collect any outstanding documentation and liaise with TRA on your behalf.
Or, if you already hold your NVQ Level 3 as a Glazier, and have 3 years of work experience post qualification, we can assist you through the Glazier TRA skills assessment process by helping you gather the required documentation and we’ll also liaise with TRA on your behalf.
The TRA Glazier skills assessment is a paper-based application only and the fee is set at $720.

Glaziers emigrating to Australia FAQs
If you want to move to Australia as a Glazier on a skilled (points based) visa you are required to complete the Glazier skills assessment. But, if you do not hold an NVQ Level 3 as a Glazier, then you must first complete the Glazier AQF III, so you can then move on to obtain your Australian skills assessment.
For the Glass and Glazing AQF III, you prove your skills as a Glazier through detailed statements from employers detailing your Glass and Glazing duties, pay and tax details for when you were working as a Glazier, detailed CV showing all training and work experience, photos of your skills, videos displaying your expertise and your qualifications.
The second stage is a technical interview with an Australian qualified Glazier who is also a qualified trainer and assessor; this is a relaxed chat over Skype or Zoom where the assessor will want to discuss your application and ask about your work as a Glazier.
To apply for the Glazier skills assessment, you need to either;
- Hold an NVQ Level 3 as a Glazier and have 3 years of paid work experience post NVQ Level 3 as a Glazier;
- Or if you do not hold an NVQ Level 3 as a Glazier, then you will need to obtain the AQF Certificate III in Glass and Glazing and prove 6 years of full-time paid work experience as a Glazier, so you can then move forward to apply for the Glazier skills assessment.
If you have a UK qualification as a Glazier and do not need the AQF III for the visa, then you may want to consider still obtaining the AQF as this will help when you are looking for Glazier jobs in Australia.
The cost of the skills assessment for a Glazier is dictated by TRA; you pay them directly. It is a paper based application only and the fee is set at $1,000.
The cost of the AQF III for a Glazier (Glass and Glazing) is $2,950 and you pay the RTO directly.
