Process for Cook skills assessment Australia

1. Documentary Assessment for Cook skills assessment Australia $1,120

This is where you will need to provide as much information and documentary evidence as you can of your previous work experience as a Cook.

  • If you hold trade related qualifications, you’ll be asked to prove you have a minimum of 3 years’ work experience.

  • If you don’t have trade related qualifications, you’ll be asked to prove you have a minimum of 5 years’ work experience.

You will also need to prove that you have worked as a Cook for a minimum of 12 months out of the last 36 months.

There will be a list of mandatory documentation that you must provide and a list of useful documentation that you could include in your application. You will also need to supply contact details of two work referees who can confirm your skills in the industry.

The Cook skills assessment for Australian migration is a 2 stage approach. You need to prove to the assessor you have the necessary skills as a Cook.

The first stage is paper based, proving you are a Cook though payslips, detailed CV, references, videos, photos, qualifications. This is called the documentary assessment for the Cook skills assessment Australia.

The second stage is a technical interview with an Australian qualified Cook and is also a qualified trainer and assessor. This is a relaxed chat over Skype or Zoom where you have a one to one with our Australian Cook Assessors.  

No, its not mandatory. If you completed an apprenticeship as a Cook, then you are required to show 3 years of paid work experience pre or post qualification. For example, if you are from the UK and hold an NVQ3 as a Cook, you would require the 3 years work experience as a Cook.

If you do not hold an NVQ3 as a Cook, then you are required to have a minimum of 5 years paid work experience as a Cook.

The skills assessment is required so you, the migrant, can apply for an Australian visa and work in Australia as a Cook. This is the way Australian Immigration can gauge if you are in fact a Cook under the Australian guidelines.
